Psychobiological Approach to Couple Therapy (PACT)

In addition to my doctoral degree, I have completed Level I and II training with Stan Tatkin in PACT. The Psychobiological Approach to Couple Therapy is a way of helping couples with their relationship problems by considering both their thoughts and emotions, as well as how their bodies are involved. It recognises that our feelings, thoughts, and behaviours are connected to our biology and how our brains work.

When using this approach, I help the couple understand the reasons behind their difficulties by looking at their past experiences, how they connect with others, and how their brains are wired. By gaining this understanding, the couple can have more empathy and understanding for each other, which can help them work through conflicts and improve their bond.

I use different techniques like helping the couple express their emotions in a safe environment, teaching them to be more aware of the present moment, and explaining how their brains and bodies respond to stress and emotions. I will also guide the couple in exercises that promote better emotional support and communication.

Overall, the Psychobiological Approach to Couple Therapy is about helping couples understand how their thoughts, feelings, and bodies are connected, so they can better understand each other and improve their relationship.
